Sandra Hernandez


Sandra Hernandez is a reporter/fill-in anchor at CW 33 News at Nine.

She grew up in Los Angeles, California. Sandra graduated from UCLA with a degree in Political Science and received her post-graduate degree in Journalism at Cal State Northridge. She landed her first big gig, in Bakersfield, California. Since then, she's worked in Santa Barbara, Sacramento, San Diego, Los Angeles and Dallas.

During the last 14 years, she's anchored and reported. She's also had the opportunity to travel and cover stories such as the 2006 terror arrests in Miami, the Zapatista Revolution in Chiapas, Mexico, the Northridge Earthquake, Hurricane Katrina, the space shuttle Columbia disaster over East Texas, the Unabomber Trial, the World Baseball Classic, wildfires, floodings, presidential elections and more.

Some of her awards include: -2005 Emmy Nomination for a High School Coach Shooting. -AP Award, "Best Investigative Piece" Blythe Street Gang -Golden Mike, "Best Newscast Over 15 Minutes" RTNDA -Golden Mike, "Best News Special" Challenge on Our Borders

When she's not working, she loves to play raquetball, roller-blade, kickbox and swim. She and Gregg got married this summer! To get a break from news, they love to make sushi and watch movies. They're die-hard Broncos fans and Sandra bleeds Dodger Blue. She adores cats and dogs, basically any animal that crosses her path.
