Reward Increased to 90,000 as FBI Searches for Scarecrow Bandits
Two More Robberies Now Linked To Scarecrow Bandits
Investigators are now linking two bank robberies the week of March 23-29, 2008 to the Scarecrow Bandits -- a group that has now knocked over at least 20 banks in the past year. Banks in Dallas and Garland were robbed on Friday, March 28 and the robbers used similar methods.
Carrying handguns, the robbers work in a team of five or six men -- dressing in their signature baggy clothes and hats. They often hop over the counter and assault tellers or other employees. The FBI says the reward for helping catch the Scarecrow Bandits is now 90-thousand dollars.
The robbers are described as:
- male
- black
- armed
- wearing black jackets, hoods, masks and gloves
The "Scarecrow Bandits" began working in teams of two to three, and have recently conducted bank robberies in teams of 5 and 6. The "Scarecrow Bandits" are known to "takeover" a bank during a robbery attempt. These takeovers have included jumping the teller counter and assaulting bank employees. These robbers have been armed with handguns and should be considered ARMED AND DANGEROUS.
Anyone recognizing these robbers or having information about their current whereabouts should call the Dallas FBI Office at 972-559-5000 or their local police agency.

These persons should not be approached by citizens who may recognize them or know their whereabouts.
