Trendy Tuesday: Mother's Day Gifts

May 6, 2008

Whether you're a new mom or a mom-to-be I've found great gift ideas for Mother's Day.

What makes the perfect mother's day gift?

We went to Peppermint Baby Boutique in Richardson to find just that. Owner Marni Matches showed us great gift ideas for the mom-to-be....to help comfort an expecting mom.. .."this is a comfort wrap that you can put in the freezer or in the microwave if you like it hard or cold. it helps with the pains that you get during pregnancy but also during labor..... and this is massage oil and a couple of essential oils that i picked out. these are my favorites.... I think massage helps a mother to relax."

Another great gift to help moms combat that morning sickness.. Marni says these Preggie Pops and Preggie Pop Drops work wonders. They contain peppermint and lavendar which help fight off nauseau.

Also great to use during pregnancy and even after.. The Belle Band. Marni said, "for a pregnant mom it will go under the belly and she can wear her pre-pregnancy jeans unbuttoned and then later in the pregnancy when the maternity pants are a little bit big, it will hold up the pants.... and then postpartum is what i really love it for. You can use it to help hold up your maternity jeans that may be a little bit big or your pre-pregnancy jeans that may be a little bit too small."

Once your bouncing bundle of joy arrives.. Marni says slings are where its at....."they're a fashion accessory for the mom and they make your life so much easier. The babies are held close to your body where the baby wants to be. They're happier, crying less." There are several different sling styles.. like the Hotslings pouch.

Marni says Ring Slings are great because you can carry the babies in many positions...."these are fast, easy to put on and they're good for our climate."

She also recommends the Ergo Baby Carrier...."it can be used equally well on the front or the back. It's a two shouldered, structured carrier so it's a little bit more comfortable and a little bit easier on your body." And of course.. a happy baby makes for a happy mommy.
