Home decorating doesn't have to break your budget.
Jill Waterston knows she wants to change up the look of her living room but doesn't want to spend a lot of money doing it. That's why she called Stephanie Weeks of Redesign Your Decor. She specializes in affordable home decoration.. showing her clients how to re-purpose and re-use what they already have.
Stephanie gets to work.. clearing out the room first and then moving furniture around and two window treatments to add color....next... she scours the house.. taking items from other rooms. A few more adjustments.. like adding some greenery and a big framed picture and the room is transformed...."we took a fireplace that was really challenging. There were lots of little tiny knicknacks on it and I don't think she knew what to do with it so we built it up tall with something that gives it demention and texture.... we also added color behind the sofa with a big picture and then took her sconces that she bought and loved and put them back up next to the picture but with something more appropriate for the size... the rearrangement is good for TV viewing for taking advantage of the fireplace and looking out the window." And really adding some color to the room.. the window treatments.
The price tag for the updated room.. around $500 to cover the cost of the curtains and framed picture.
One important thing....always pay attention to proper lighting. Stephanie said, "without the proper lighting and the ambience the room just doesn't work and that's something easy you can do."
Also....experiment with furniture arrangement. Weeks said, "that is something free. Bring chairs in from other rooms, play with the couch and have fun with it."
Now you too can have the home you've always wanted without spending a fortune.
