One Tree Hill Recap: All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone
The gang prepares to move on.

previous episode | season 4 second half recap | back to the One Tree Hill episode guide

What's the drama: Karen meets Keith in a beautiful field of lilies. Their daughter is there and Keith tells Karen that she needs to go watch over her. Keith tells Karen that he'll wait for her and to watch for him in the lily fields. In the operating room, Karen's heartbeat returns. She's alive. On the other side of the hospital, Haley welcomes her baby--James Lucas Scott. Meanwhile, Dan walks into the police station and turns himself in for murdering his brother.

What's up with Karen: Karen names the baby Lily Rose Scott. After Karen is released from the hospital she pays a visit to Dan. She tells him about Lily. Karen tells him that one day she will have to tell her daughter that her father loved his younger brother very much but that brother took him from them. Forever. Then she spits on him and leaves.

What's up with Peyton: Peyton is putting off packing for LA because she's afraid that she'll miss Lucas too much. Lucas doesn't want her to go but he believes that Peyton is destined for greatness and that will start the next day when she leaves for Los Angeles.

What's up with Haley: Haley is so content being a new mommy that she is apprehensive about going to the big senior sendoff. According to Mouth, that evening at midnight, the Tree Hill High computers turn over and the juniors become seniors--so the gang will be officially gone. But Deb insists that the new parents enjoy one last night with their friends.

What's up with Rachel: When Brooke arrives at the party, she's informed that she is not allowed in. Brooke asks whose party it is and then Rachel emerges from the darkness. It's her party. Aw! Later, Brooke presents Rachel with her diploma.
What's up with Mouth: At the party, Brooke drags Mouth to a game of spin the bottle where Shelly is playing. She's ended the Clean Teens. Mouth can't stand seeing her and walks away. But when a random dude calls Shelly a slut, Mouth defends her and punches the guy. Shelly is touched and thanks Mouth. Later, they talk, but when midnight comes, it's Brooke who Mouth wants to kiss.

What's up with Lucas: At the party, Lucas and Nathan decide that they need to go visit Dan, but they have no idea what they'll say to him. They decide to go together later that night, after a few beverages. Before they depart, Haley asks Lucas to be the baby's godfather. She tells Lucas that she's going to miss him, but then he tells her that she won't and then tells her a secret -- and she's thrilled. Turns out that Whitey has asked Lucas to be his assistant coach, and he's accepted.

What's up with Brooke: Haley asks Brooke to be James' godmother. And while that should have been the best part of Brooke's evening, the highlight actually occurs in the back of a car when Chase ends his "Clean Teen" career for good.

What's up with Nathan: Before the end of the evening, the Scott brothers decide not to visit their father after all…ever. They have each other, and that's enough.

What's up with Dan: Desperate and alone in his jail cell, Dan attempts suicide and fails.

How does it all wrap up? After midnight, the gang decides to leave the party and heads over to the river court for a little game of boys versus girls. They go back to where it all started. Brooke declares that they will all be friends forever, and Lucas reminds everyone that in four years they will all be back in Tree Hill, done with college or whatever. He says they should all reunite at the court four years from now. Then, Nathan asks his brother if he'd like to play one last game of one-on-one, and Lucas accepts. As the gang watches (and Mouth prepares to call the play by play) they start with a jump shot.
